Oh no GiantStu - too late - I pick it up this afternoon. I hate to say it, but I hope you got a "Friday" car and mine is alright.
Reviews I have read seem quite good and the motoring rags that have had one on long term test drives (30k miles plus) haven't said much about reliability or faults.
As the one I am buying is 18 months old I hope that any faults that there have been have been worked out of the system already. I guess I always have the comfort of knowing it still has 18 months manufacturers warranty on it.
I have a Brink swan-neck fitted and it does not effect the rear parking sensors. It was fitted by an independent fitter arranged through dealer and does not have dedicated wiring.

I have a 61 plate Sharan 170 SEL, i don't have a towbar on it as it's a company car and we have another vehicle to tow with.
All i can say is good luck, it is by far the worst vehicle i have EVER had!!
It has been so unreliable unlike the fleet of Galaxy's (07 and 09) it replaced.
The dealers has seen it 12 times in less than 2 years for faults (and that does not include services!)
I would NEVER have another one.
That's exactly what we said about our (older shape) sharan we had, biggest pile of rubbish we have ever wasted money on. Would never buy another

I hope your liking the Alhambra..
Our Sharan's are company cars, we have 440 of them on our fleet and the fleet manager is disappointed with them on the overall reliability.
Mine will be 2 year old in September (now at 76k)and has had various issues, the biggest been the fact the engine will just stop...... at various speeds, when i say stop, i mean dead as if the ignition has been turned off, no power steering, no servo assisted brakes.
Totally dead!! luckily no steering lock though! sometimes it will restart immediately, others times it won't start for 1/2 hour!!
I had to push the car out of lane 2 of the M1 in the pitch black at 5am a few months back! not good on an unlit stretch in a black car with no lights
The dealers have had it on diagnostics and no faults show so cant find anything to fix!!
Other problem was there not been any brake pads available in the country for 6 weeks when mine was serviced and had 98% wear.
( i can do 2000 miles some weeks so brakes tend to be quite beneficial )
I could go on with the list, but dont want to seem so negative!!
On a plus side the sliding side doors are great and really useful as the boot is always full to the brim with spare parts, tools and other work stuff.
