traveling up the M5 and M6 as a passenger and overtaking lots of caravans the one thing i noticed on nearly all of them is that they were continuously ( looking for the word) bouncing up and down.
not pitching just a continues low level bounce.
The vans that did not seem to do this were the twin axles.
I think this alone is a good reason to fit shock absorbers.
And is this the reason twin axle owners say they get a smoother tow ??

The bouncing you mention is of no consequence, you don't feel it while towing. Most caravans are single axle with no shock absorbers & tow perfectly well.
