Does anybody know of a website where you can put in your car details and get a listing all of the caravans that are suitable. On most sites it seems to be a one for one check each time.
I have found one site that does this called "t and about live" but it only shows vans from around 2007 and I need to go back a few years for my budget.
I would then be able to print and take the list with me when going to look for vans.
It would be a very extensiove site and cost a fortune to run. You would be a huge box of paper to list all the vans suitable.
Then the chances of being able to find those caravans which may have been made in small numbers would make it a pointless task.
Names and weights change on a yearly basis, My Avondale Grampian went from 1100kg to 1300kg over 3 or 4 years.
See how many choices you get on the sites that you found?
The cuddles website listed a lot, But barely scratched the surface.
If using a dealer then you just need to look at the sheet in the window with the max weight. Or go around looking at the plates near the door.
If private a quick call asking what the gross weight is. Although some be shocked when 99% of the owners dont have a clue and say there twin axle monster tows fine behind their 1 litre engined city car.
Also I think it is better to work out your own match, I put my car details into the website that the dealers use, which cost's about £5 a go, the website confirmed that my car was not suitable for my intended caravan choice, as did the dealer.
This information was contradicting my own workings out, it turned out that the details for my car were not correct, and that in actual fact my workings out were correct.
The website refunded my £5, the dealer on the other hand said he could only go of what the website told him.
Even though I had all the car plate details and car handbook proving the website was wrong. he was not interested in my manual way of working things out.
I guess the dealers have to cover themselves, by sticking to what the website is telling them, even if it is causing them to loose a caravan sale.
