I bought a lovely Hyudai Santa Fe as features in this post. santa fe
It's a 2.0l and fairly happy with it as a tow car. A close friend has emigrated to the Middle East and sold me his Nissan Murano 3.5 auto petrol.

Seeing what are people preferences over a manual diesel and petrol auto.
Points to note Santa Fe is approx 11 years old, Murano is a 2006 plate so cheaper tax bracket. Murano has tow stuff fitted but no ball unless its folded away (away for bank hols so not good look yet)

Cheers for you opinion.

I'll think you'll find that is because the Nissan is very rare as a car, let alone for towing - how can can anyone give an opinion if we haven't any experience? I think we're being very sensible...

If you do a search, you'll find numerous posts on the auto v. manual and petrol v. diesel debates.

If it helps, my 3.3 litre petrol engine gets me a miserly 18mpg towing, whereas my previous 2 litre diesel Santa Fe (2009 model) did 23mpg.

Only thing I could find was that the Murano does about 18mpg solo. Could be as little as 10 to 12mpg towing!
