Hi All ,    just wondering is the A697 road leading to Powburn is cut off due to the landslide last winter,   due to go in October but waiting to find out on this forum if its usable ,,,cheers

The A697 is open all the way now, has been for, er, ages.

Or, are you asking about the road to Rothbury, just after Longhorsley, off the A697?

That road will be closed for the foreseeable future that I know of, all the departments are currently arguing between themselves who's going to foot the bill to have that road repaired. Approx cost - £8M!!!

thanks I think part of that route IS on the A697 before it heads west ,,,, im under the impression there,s a diversion on the way to Powburn. cheers

Na, the whole of the A697 is clear and open. The landslide, if it the one I'm thinking of, happened just outside Powburn a few years ago now...

There was a picture of a police car that had stopped traffic at the slide, when another landslide happened in front of him - blocking HIM in between them!!

But the landslide on the Rothbury road, the B6344, as far as I know of is still closed....
