An Avondale what???

The handbooks dont really list a lot. Mostly telling you how to tow.

Towing ratio's, Stabiliser fixings etc. Not a great deal of info on the van except weights and tyres.

Which Avondale is it though?

33 Avondales in the book. at least 11 of them are 4 berths.
Couple of 4/5 berths also.

Names/ Numbers down the sides?

Upload a couple of pictures to your gallery if you can.

Theres not really much to learn, caravans of different makes of similar years are all made with common components, cookers, heaters, fridges, chassis, brakes, windows etc. All the parts are supplied by various manufacturers & built into the caravans at the factory.

All UK built caravans are made up of much the same components from common manufacturers & any caravan workshop can service them. Consumable spare parts like brake shoes & bearings are still available off shelf for chassis going right back to the 80s.

Get the caravan serviced, change the tyres if more than 5yrs old, regardless of wear & use it.

Regards, Jack+Jon.

If you have no idea of history of caravan you should get a chassis service at a caravan workshop, ie brakes/bearings/lights/hitch damper etc & get tyres changed if they look yrs old, Even with plenty of tread they could blow out at motorway speeds.

As for bodywork you can check this yourself. Look for soft patches in the interior walls & floor. With an old caravan you can expect some damp but you can reseal exterior seams & around grab handles with ployurethane sealant such as Sikaflex 512. Don't use household silcone sealant though, its not really up to the job.

You have to hope there is no serious damp because an old 'van is not really worth major interior strip out/repair imho. You really just want to patch it up & get some use out of it.
