A Blade stabiliser is a cheaper option to start with - my local dealer is selling second hand ones at £25.

If you don't feel too confident about towing with the lighter car a stabiliser is a must.

Towed a monza (14ft) with a 1.9 405 without a stabelizer and the caravan was all over the road when a lorry went by. Got my self a sidewinder out of the local for sale ads and it made a hell of a difference.

Hi all , just come back from our easter break to brighton , had a great time .

When we left Bristol i connected our stabiliser as normal , and headed off down the M4 , the caravan was all over the place and it was loaded up , handled like a bag off you know what , we couldn't get over 50mph , even at 50 it was bouncing around and being affected by CARS going past , i said to my over half we've gone and bought a really bad handling caravan , i told her we must have it weighted wrong to be as bad as this and we'd have to stop at the next services to sort it out as i couldn't carry on driving like this .

Got to the services and what did we find , the stabiliser had jumped out of it's locator so we'd been driving without it working . Fitted it back in place and what a difference , 60mph no problem ( well that's all i'll admit to LOL ) .

If you ever tow on the motorway make sure you use a stabiliser , they make a huge difference .
