Polo should have at least 1000 towing capacity

Trailer tent seems to be 750 kg max

Is trailer tent unbraked? Polo will have low unbraked tow weight as it is quite light. Probably only 500kg so trailer tent should not exceed that if unbraked.

As above it depends on whether the trailer is braked or not.

Is the trailer braked and what is its gross laden weight?

What year Polo? Spec, Model, Engine, manual/auto?

Some models have a very low towing limit. Bluemotion and eco cars can sometimes tow less than the standard vehicles.

Post 1997 licence holder?

Max tow weight = Cars gross laden weight + Caravans gross laden weight.

These 2 figures must not exceed 3500kg. And the Caravans gross laden weight must not exceed the cars UNLADEN weight.

Unless the manufacturer has set a lower limit.

Was looking at cars to tow our max 750kg TT in passing, and Honda CRV (600 kg) or Mazda 5 were no good. Be careful.

But Clipper DL is 400kg max from a little research, and most of the new Polos have a minimum unbraked limit of 510. Of course depends on variants, but should be OK based on the little information provided.

Not necessarily!
Depends on what the manufacturer has stated, and will be on a plate somewhere on the vehicle. On a modern VAG at the bottom of the driver's side B post.

I was referring to the the law, ie C&U regulations not individual car manufacturer tow weights.
