I have just looked at my VIN plate and there are four weights written on it, they are as follows
2020kg
3520kg
1- 980kg
2- 1060kg
Can someone tell me what these figures relate to please.
My guess is
2020 kg - max car weight (including passengers, luggage etc)
3520kg - max train weight Combined weight of car + caravan
not sure what the bottom two numbers relate to.

How does this compare with your V5?

So, my interpretation is that you can legally tow 1500KG (3520 - 2020) and your safe limit is 1098KG (1292KG x 85%), as you stated in your first post.

Is your confusion that the handbook states different values? I'd be inclined to use the plated numbers (assuming they are the same as V5) because the police will use this for reference.

2020kg = GVW = max vehicle can weigh when fully loaded
3520kg = GTW = max both vehicle and trailer can actually weigh when weighed together
1- 980kg = max front axle weight
2- 1060kg = max rear axle weight
