My Skoda also has 2 towing limits in the handbook, must be a VAG thing!
12% - 1,600kg
8% - 1,700kg
V5C - 1,600kg that's the limit, not that I would tow that of course with a mass in service of 1,495kg.
Mass in service is kerbweight with 90% tank of fuel and driver 75kg.

I think that is because you have the tdie as said in my first post. I have an A4 with the 177PS diesel and can tow at 85%
