Just had a 48 hour test drive in one of these and they seem pretty good for a company\caravan tow car, although I've not actually towed the van with it as yet.
Does anyone out there tow with one of these vehicles? If so, comments and feedback would be much appreciated.
Trying the Freelander tomorrow but it's gonna cost me £100 more a month so probably just going for the ride really.
Noseweight is a good 100Kg, kerbweight 1668Kg, Max braked tow weight 1500Kg. Our van is 1340Kg so a very good match and no probs there.
Would like to know more about the Freelander problems, drove it today and it seemed capable enough but felt it lacked power. Got it for the day tomorrow so will be taking the kids for spin for a few hours. They do look fantastic in the showroom but still not convinced they are £100 per month better than the CR-V, if indeed they are a better vehicle.
We have a CRV no probs so far. Get the exec model the sat nav is great, heated leather seats, are the Freelanders not smaller?Fold out picnic able in boot has been a good thing too. Also little cool box for a couple of cans is a good idea. Our company car list has some bizarre charges, cars who have a cheaper on the road cost but more expensive monthly cost. I dont know how they work it out.
The spec of the new CR-V is much improved over the previous models. I would have considered one if the diesel was available a year ago. Purchased the Nissan X-Trail instead - brilliant tow car.
Thanks for the additional responses. Just been looking at the X-Trail, not too disimilar spec to the CR-V, just £65 a month more expensive due to its emmissions.
The Freelander is definitely much smaller than the CR-V, managed to get one for the day today. It did what it's supposed to but everything about it seemed to be just average. Kids weren't impressed with no rear cup holders and no picnic table. It was a great fun car to drive for the day but I am still more impressed with the CR-V, which drives much better, more like a car than a compact 4x4 and the power is fantastic.
The CR-V has a 58 litre fuel tank.
To be honest the CR-V is going to be difficult to better, from a company car tax perspective, for a compact 4x4. I'm sure other manufacturers will catch-up at some point in the future, but at the moment the CR-V is the car of choice for me and I will be ordering one over the next couple of weeks.

Do you have the Honda removeable tow-bar fitted? If so, is there plenty of room for the Alko 3004 Stabiliser?
