I have a 94 LWB 2.8, owned it for 7 years, done 36000mls towing. it has now covered 120000 mls. Oil & filter changed every 6 months, full service every 12 months. usual spends, brake pads ,discs, etc. No oil used from oil change to oil change. Paid £1700 for it. Bargain.
Sunroof jammed and had to be kept shut.
Aircon needed regassing every year.
Aircon pump seized at 45k
Rear electric windows failed at 40k
Transmission fault at 75K
Engine crank fault at 85K
Thanks to everyone for your feedback. It's a minefield especially as we know so little about cars of any sort. I think we will just have to take the plunge and get the best we can for the money we have and pray!
I had the DCI Elegance, So sorry i got shut, The wife didnt like the car,I loved it, And no probs at all with it.Just like any vehicle,You take the draw.

As I said before I love my Shogun but that is because they are more of a tool than a car. They aren't quiet they are hard on the springs/ride and gobble diesel. But they will pull out tree stumps, carry a great deal of junk in the back with the seats folded up and you can see over hedges. So agricultural I think comes to mind. I call mine Oliver Reed.....thirsty but fun.

As said, if you do go for a Shogun... Read up on the POCUK, they have a wealth of info there. That's what I did before buying.
Showed me what to look for, and saved me from buying some right wrecks!
Working on mitsi's for the MOD since 85 and seeing all of these models, its all down to previous owners maintenace or neglect... injectors dont need replacing until well after 100,000 mls, auto transmissions are bullet proof, manuals pretty much the same, flashing 4x4 lights is generally a vacuum solenoid at £25, rust? rear wheel arches because people let dirt build up behind the arch and rot sets in, MPG low 20's and average for a large 4x4, then generally any problems are normal for any vehicle of this type and age. But you'll be getting a motor that is powerful, stable and an excellent tow motor, If you want a similar vehicle take a look at a later Mitsubishi Delica, very similar running gear but more room inside and still a great tow motor. And i agree about visiting the the forums, (i'm a moderator on a few )
