Im just in the market for a new car and my local garage have a Audi A6 Allroad 2.5 tdi automatic 4x4.
Ive drove the car its very nice lots of torque but ive never had a automatic before, Has any one had one of theese Audis?
What is the pros and cons of automatic?
The oil in the box needs changing allegedly every 40K,specialist oil, so make sure its changed along with the internal filter, oh and it can be done only at a Audi VW dealer, so its at the correct level , also the haldex oil level also make sure the belts and water pump is changed if its over 4 years old, or every 80K.
check the tyres for wear on the insides, or a 4 wheel alignment is required, then just check all the switches and buttons work, if it has satnav ask for it to be updated, Audi forums will tell you to what version, of maps and software , make sure it has a full sized spare, or space saver, and tool kit, especially the security wheel bolt locking socket
Premium brands are all expensive to service but worth doing to as repairs are hideously expensive (having said that my business has a Zafira and that's not too far behind).
Advantages of auto:
* car changes gear for you and keeps you in proper power band
* Cruise control much better since car changes gear if need be
* Much more relaxed towing experience.
* Auto's "crawl" feature, moving very slowly when in gear but no throttle, very useful when manoeuvring caravan.
Disadvantages:
* None. Old autos used to use far more fuel than manuals, but modern 7, 8 or even 9 speed boxes are much more efficient.
I used to be sceptical until I tried one, now I wouldn't have a manual car given to me.

Naa, they said that about my Shogun - 'Must ONLY be done by Mitsi' or the world will end!!!!
Yeah right....
After doing a bit of digging around the internet (it does have it's uses sometimes), I found a company that sold the same specific ATF fluid cheaper that Mitsi's own fluid.
Then learned from the 'net on how to do it - EXACTLY the same way Mitsi tells their technicians how to do it...
I have recently bought a 2014 A6 Avant Multi-Tronic. My first Audi after several Ford Mondeo estates then a Mazda 6. After 3 months I've towed twice, one 3 hour trip and one longer trip from Cheshire to Devon. The car is very comfortable and easy to drive solo and no different towing. Too early for troubles yet I suppose but thus far I would certainly have another.
I tow with a Audi A8 3.0 auto and it's fantastic make sure you get a good warranty with it , I've just had a major service at a main dealer and it was £379 or pay £399 whichI did and I'll get next years service free, I asked about auto fluid and was told its sealed and no need to change it
