Hi all, just purchased a new Bailey and am a little confused on the tow bar element.

I have a witter detachable flange tow bar new 6 months old. We did have a pennine pathfinder wich had an alko 1300 mini stabiliser. We towed fine and clearance seems fine.

The new van has alko 3004 stabiliser and looking it up I need an alko tow bar ?

I looking at the witter on it looks like a longer neck any how and I can't work it out on the witter site. Does anyone else know if this is suitable.

The neck is an e4 a50-x witter part zen 3002 .. On the stickers

Art nr 31338. I have tried all these numbers on line with no real joy thanks all .

You only need an Alko towball if it's a bolt on type with the 2 x 16 mm. nuts and bolts fixing. Because of the flange the stabiliser needs clearance otherwise if it's a swan neck or detachable it will be okay as there is no clearance restriction.

My bolt on towball on a Witter flanged detachable bar has the following label on it.

AlKo Koble
Part number 1385201

I would ring Witter and ask.

Post up a picture, side view of towbar and we can see if its extended neck flange ball suitable for alko stabiliser hitch.

Take it along to your local caravan dealer or towbar centre they will know as soon as they see it and should be able to change it over for you.
remember to remove all the black paint so your ball is silver and shiny. The paint contaminates the friction pads inside your alko hitch.

Hopefully this is the image of our tow bar. Ignor the post next to if it is the section for bike rack. I just need to check the alko 3004 is ok with This. I assume so as I was towing on an alko 1300 but best to check

The towball in your post looks identical to the one in the link below which is an Alko towball. You can tell by the undercut clearance directly below the 50 mm. ball which allows for the pivoting of the hitch plus the Alko towball has a slightly longer neck too for swivel clearance.

Many thanks all, now all I have to do is get used to a 24 ft caravan over a pathfinder but sure all will be fine and take it easy.

Can't wait for our first outing with out having to peg out and put up as such like the folding camper.

Roll on next year for france !
