V50 is same size as a fous estate I,m certain some use the same floor pan, so not really giving you the 1450 kgs at 85% that you wanted, good ccar though

You can not have everything, 1400kg at 85% means a very large car mondeo sized at least. He does not want such a big car so a good compromise is the V50 which is a lot heavier than a Focus.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

Our last V60 was a very able towcar, it had the D5 engine which was just great, they are however getting rarer as Volvo have decided to discontinue fitting the D5 engine to the V60, instead they are going for a 2.0L unit which in my opinion will be underpowered, hence the reason we have gone with a BMW 330d M Sport Touring which is a Mega Solo car, we have only had it 4 weeks so haven't towed yet, towbar is being fitted on 22nd October and we are off down to Cornwall that night for a short break, will report back on my views on our return.

Finally decided 😎😎😎 gone for the v50 in the end and put a deposit down on one today. 2009 2ltr diesel but gone for an R design spec one. Pick u on Saturday so can't wait now 😜😜😜

Hope we've made the right choice!!
