Hi all
Was looking at the newish caravan blind spot mirrors 18 from M1lenco, this would be to use along with my Suck it & see mirrors. Anybody use them ? for drivers side only.
Reason: To improve rear view/blind spots. I was on my way to Stirling M80 5.30PM I nearly squashed a Merc saloon against the center reservation with the van oop's.
Checked mirrors & blind spot as I usually do, then started to move out to pass a slow moving lorry, the out side lane was clear cars coming in the distance but plenty of time to overtake and return to nearside lane speed 60 MPH next thing loud peeeeping from a Merc that was at the same time I was re-checking mirrors etc again, he must have been sitting up the caravans rear end & of course out of my view, I did get a wee fright (not as much as he did) not being far out into the outside lane I pulled back in and as he passed waved and guested an apology.
I have been caravaning for 25 yrs, my outfit Discovery 4 & Sterling Elite TA,

No amount of mirrors will stop speeding idiots in Mercs but I would suggest you get a set of Milenco Aero towing mirrors & you should find a vast improvement over your suck it & sees.

Thanks for your reply Opensauce, it's usually BMW's. Your probably right because when I fit the suck it mirrors I have to turn my own mirrors (glass) inwards to get the view I need, thus losing the view on my with my own mirrors.

Checked them out on e bay they clamp on top side of mirror edge, could they clamp on bottom edge? my mirrors have a cover with indicator in them and only the bottom edge is free for clamps.

Yes, you can clamp them the mirrors on the bottom edge especially if the top edge is somewhat curved to a degree that it makes the mirrors awkward to clamp on. Just make sure that the two clamps are as far away as possible to eliminate any vibration.

I've got a pair of Aero mirrors for sale in the free ads. They're brilliant, I've given up towing that's all.

Another vote of Milenco Aero mirrors. I have to attach mine to the top because the mirrors fold in automatically, attaching at the bottom would mean they would not close.

I leave the car mirrors in exactly the same position as when solo as it means I am still familiar with what they are showing. Some people adjust to show blind spot/caravan tyres. Only towed with convex mirrors and they seem fine for what I need.

I have the grand Aeros and attach them to the bottom of the mirror. I used them for the first time last week although they were good they still vibrate like any other mirror I've used.

Grand aero's here too.

I like big mirrors on vehicles these days, so on top of the big Shogun mirrors makes visibility even better...

They vibrate because you haven't got them set up right. I have been on two previous rallies over the past years and both caravanners said they were a waste of money because they are no different to any other mirror. I reset them up for them with the two clamps being further apart and Hey Presto! vibration eliminated.

Bloody hell, I didn't realise towing mirrors were so complicated why didn't I think of that! Thanks for your pearls of wisdom.
