Hi Everybody
I am going to buy a MPV, a Renault Espace or something similar. Does anyone tow with one? What sort of engine is best. I will normally tow with a least 4 - 5 adults on board. I already know that this is the type of vehicle for me on a day to day basis but would really like to find out how they tow.

Over to you.

Paul

Hi Paul

I have towed with a 1.8ltr Zafira. The wife, kids, me and the Bailey on the back and it towed very well.  It did feel the hills a bit.  My advice would be to get a diesel and you will have less gear changes to worry about.

Hi Anne

I currently have a 406 Est which has 7 seats and is brilliant to tow with and was great when the kids where smaller - now they are bigger than me and I'm 6'3!!. I just need something with more room.

Hi Paul

We have a 1.9 turbo diesel Seat Alhambra 7-seater MPV which is basically a VW with a different badge. We pull a six berth bailey Ranger which is a fair size plus the mountain of extras my wife insists on taking with us. Tows absolutely no problem with plenty of power and keeps the van under control. Whatever you buy I recommed a decent turbo diesel for the torque and MPG.

We sold our espace last year which was a 2ltr petrol and it towed great. I would definately get another one if I needed an mpv but would possibly look out for a deisel 2.1 or 2.3 version.
