Hi, does anyone know if a dealer fitted Volvo detachable towbar on an XC90 (2012) will be suitable for use with the Al-Ko 3004 stabiliser hitch?

Kind regards, Dan

Yes it will. It's only if it's a fixed flange towball that you have to have an Al-ko towball fitted. A swan neck or detachable towball have no restrictions for the hitch to pivot so it will be okay.

Your new detachable towball will be fully coated with paint for surface corrosion protection. Just remember to remove the paint from round towball only before hitching the stabiliser hitch as the internal friction pads need to grip to the ball to operate effectively.

I always keep a little pad of scotchbrite and a clean rag in the boot to remove any surface rust before every hitch-up and do it as part of my "pre hitch routine" but I'd forgotten that they come painted, it's been a while since we changed cars.
I appreciate the reminder.
