Hello I have a 2012 Honda CR-V 2.2 diesel , I'm looking at a new van and it says that some cars need a new fuse box for led road lights. Is this correct and how do I find out whether I need this ??
Warranties have nothing to do with it regarding what option you take. The question is will you encounter any electrical problems by having the bypass relay installed instead of the dedicated electrics as recommended?
My car was 4 years old and took the cheaper option of having twin electrics and by pass relay fitted which during that year I broke down twice which involved a totally recovery 200 miles back home resulting in the loss of a holiday with no refund as well as the repair of removing the wiring loom for a dedicated one at a cost of nearly £300.
The choice is yours but it can be an expensive mistake in the long term trying to save a few quid as I found out the hard way.
The problem is that the can-bus system is computerised so it recognises when the caravan electrics are plugged in which increases the vehicle alternator current to charge the caravan leisure battery. When you detach the plug the current should reset to default but if that message is not directed to the vehicle computer it is possible that it will interfere with the electronics depending on the vehicle.
It's just a word of warning that's all before you make your final decision which of the two you decide to have fitted.
Hi Paul & welcome to the forum. I have had both fitted and much prefer the dedicated wiring looms for the newer Canbus electrics. They also work with LED lamps.
You needn't buy 'Genuine' Honda ones, Honda don't make them, they buy them in and badge them 'Honda'. They are made by a Dutch company called ECS Electronics and can be bought direct and cheaper.
