Greenhorn getting the chance to buy an old caddy trailer. I drive a 56 plate automatic skoda octavia estate 2l. Ive no idea what the trailer max laiden weight is and if it's ok with the car. . Will be used for some garden stuff and camping. . Also looking for advice on a suitable towbar. . Just seem to be going round in circles. The trailer has a faded sticker saying caddy and the tow arm is stamped with various numbers. Not sure whats what. Ive taken photos. I know lots of silly questions. . Just starting out and just want to be safe. . Thanks

If it hasn't got brakes then the maximum weight of the trailer will be 750kg, but that may be more then the unbraked limit of your Octi. There is a label at the bottom of the drivers side B post that will tell you what the limit is.
56 plate Octi will need recoding when the electrics are connected and you will best be fitting a dedicated towing loom. There have been reports of problems with the by-pass systems being used on Skodas.

Many thanks guys. The trailer is "unbraked" and I'll have another look at the door plates on the car. Good just being able to get the questions answered. Will post back with rest of details soon.

And do you get full functionality on the central display and all the other circuits, like the alarm and stability systems?
