Guys

I'm looking for some assistance please,

I own a Nissan X trail Aventura Explorer Dci 2l 2009 170BHP.

I'm looking to get a Bailey Olympus 534 2011.

Basically the figures are confusing the hell out of me, is this a suitable match? I'm struggling to work it out.

Thanks in advance.

1. What does your car manual say the braked towing weight your car can pull?
2. What are the unladen and laden weights of the caravan?
3. when did you pass your test?

Do you mean GVW 2200kg ?

What is mass in service weight on the V5 doc ?
What is max towing weight on V5 doc ?

Assuming GVW is 2200 and MTPLM is 1482 then that totals 3682 so comes under B+E licence rules - do you have B+E on your licence ?

CC ADVICE makes it just over a 85% match but in reality that's going to be well under 85%
Calculation is 1726 divided by 100 then multiplied by 85 making the answer 1467 (your MTPLM is 1482)

Looks good to me with a B+E which you have

ROG, am I right in assuming that I am restricted in France to tow no faster than 56mph?

Car (Cayenne) = 2200kg
Maximum towing capacity stated as 3500kg

Total MTW is 5700kg, right? but if I am only towing 640kg, am I still restricted to the lower speed limit?

Thank you

the 85% is not a rule and has no basis in law, so don't stress about the calculations.

Andy, your unit as you've described, with your age driving license is safe and legal. Enjoy your holidays :D

Yes as mad as it sounds if you are capable of towing big never mind what your towing your restricted

I towed a small trailer tent sub 500 kg s with a zafira that meant I could theoretically do 130 kph ,moved over to a Sedona meant I was restricted to 90 with the same trailer tent !!

That is nuts! I have read that even the police in France are a little confused by it all and are ignoring smaller trailers and not the car towing it? Think I'll motorise the trailer and buy a push bike

You might just want a heavier van to slow you down a bit Considering your van could be towed with a 2ltr diesel skoda superb
