Hi, apologies if this is in the wrong place! I'm looking for a new car, must tow at least 1400kg, around £1000 budget. Currently have a bmw 3 series touring which I like but the insurance is relatively high :( I need to reduce costs as much as possible and I reckon I could halve my insurance. Any suggestions? Lowest insurance group car wins a prize :) lol

How about a Mondeo 2.0tdci (00-07)?
They can be had for under £1000 and are group 22 insurance with road tax of £185. Kerb weight is 1487kg and with 150kg loaded into the car you should be under the 85%.

I tow with a diesel Volvo V70. Its 16 years old and has a towing limit above what you need. Should be quite a few around at your budget. Loads of room in the back too!
