Not really a towing question, but hope you will be able to help anyway! I have a Renault Modus that had a flat tyre. The RAC put the (standard) spare on and said it would be fine to drive on for a while. My question is, am I OK to drive round without a spare tyre for a few days until I can get to a garage, or does it need sorting sooner than that? Thanks
Provided it is a roadwheel spare & not a skinny spacesaver you are ok for a few days. I assume the pressure was checked by RAC man when he changed it? Punctures are fairly rare these days so probably you will be ok until it is convenient to get it fixed.
If you do get another puncture though RAC will not attend as their t&c's state you must have a serviceable spare unless car is not supplied with spare as standard. Slightly grey area as many cars have temp. repair kit as standard & spare as optional extra. They have space for a spare to be carried so RAC could possibly refuse you service as you are carrying a punctured wheel.
So I suggest you leave your punctured wheel at home & buy a temporary tyre repair kit which is an aerosol that fills tyre with repair foam. If tyre is repaired thus is should only be driven about 50miles & may not be repairable as tyre depots do not like repairing tyres that have been filled with repair foam.
Hi, tyre fitter turned alloy wheel repairer here, please do not fill tyres with gunge, not only is it messy but it also makes your tyre automatically un-repairable
Yes, aren't these pretty SUVs wonderful? big chunky tyres, no room for a spare. Every time you get a puncture you have to buy a new tyre. Except you probably have no chance of getting a matching tyre so you have to buy 2...
What happened to cars with 5 steel wheels that you could swap around? I think I've go one of the last. A Citroen Berlingo. If I get a puncture I'm stopped for about 20mins while I change the wheel.
Thank you everyone. Helpful to know about RAC not coming out again unless you have a spare. I risked it and managed to get to work and back today. Am planning on going to Kwik Fit first thing tomorrow!

Really?
Not what my fitter says, nor what some of the "gel" manufacturers state.
Gel from VAG specifically can be removed by washing with warm water.

I suggest that there are much better places to go to then Kwig Fart, and cheaper!

Agree with you on that one . They will say you need shock absorbers amongst other things.
