Your handbook will tell you if car has sufficient towing weight so you are legal. Towing performance with 1.6 petrol engine will be poor compared with diesel & fuel consumption will be high, probably low 20s. You will have to use gears & trucks will pass you on motorway inclines but if it is what you have it will have to do.

I believe the maximum noseweight limit for a towbar on the 2008 is only 50kg so best to look at that as well.
