I've just got a Hyundai Tucson under lease for three years.
Full European breakdown is covered in the lease, but not the caravan I'm pulling. Is it possible to get caravan only European breakdown insurance..or must it be with a vehicle as well?
Best way would be take out single trip car/caravan cover for your trip or just go with a years car/caravan cover. Saga or Green Flag do year's continental cover for around £130.
Or try speaking to provider of your car breakdown cover. They might include caravan as well for extra fee.
Even if you could get caravan only recovery how would that work? You break down on a French road & your current cover uplifts car but leaves caravan behind for recovery that might not turn up for hours.
Or breakdown driver might refuse recovery as caravan is not included & it would be unsafe practise to leave just caravan beside road. Try arguing that out in French. For what it costs you might as well take out cover for both.
If your breakdown cover is provided by the RAC it is possible to add caravan cover for the UK or for the whole of Europe. You need to speak to the Corporate Services people at the RAC, not the usual call centre. If you need the phone number for this let me know and I'll dig it out for you, it's not a number that they publicise.
