More info required. Is your friend's TT registered as a trailer in Spain or is it a U.K. trailer with a car reg on the back?

You need to ask your Spanish insurer as any trailer towing will need to comply with Spanish law even in UK or risk voiding your insurance in event of claim.

Google tells me that no registration required for trailers under750kg max laden weight in Spain. So provided insurance ok & you have a proper spare number plate for your car to put on trailer then you are good to go provided trailer has weight plate it would appear. Obviously you need to check this from an official source.

There's a fair bit of info on towing UK trailers with Spanish reg cars on the expat Brits in Spain forums. So search online for them & post question on there should get you definitive answer. It appears it can be problematic if weight plate is not in Spanish

Cannot answer if you were to use on U.K. Roads but if you tow an English trailer behind a Spanish registered vehicle in Spain you will be pulled over, the trailer impounded and a hefty fine. Even if under 750 kg a Spanish trailer has to have its own paperwork and the cars insurers notified you intend to tow. Over 750kgs a trailer or caravan in Spain has its own registration documents, local road tax, circulation insurance and MOT?..very strict here on trailer paperwork!

Do you have a spare rear plate to fit?
If not, you might be ok when towing, but remember to refit on the car when solo.
Otherwise, there's no problem with your plan as long as you have an electrical connection on your car for trailer lights, brake lights etc.

I guess UK police will not be bothered but if you have accident while towing in UK presumably your Spanish car insurance would be voided if you tried to claim on that unless trailer was compliant with Spanish law?
