I have a VW Passat Alltrack 4 wheel drive and tow a Bailey Ranger. I need 4 new tyres for my car. Is there any advantage / disadvantage with getting Xtra Load tyres for the car as opposed to standard tyres. I probably tow for about 50 days a year.

normal tyres will be ok , just remember to inflate the rears to the max load weight when towing

Get some all season tyres, I use Vredestein Quatrac 5 great on muddy fields and also classed as a winter tyre, 3 peaked snowflake.

xl rated tyres will last longer than normal rated tyres, just make sure all tyres are all matched

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. In the end I have gone for the Continental Conti Sport Contact 5 225/45 R18 95W, which are the same as the ones which came with the car. I like the idea of having the Conti Seal, especially when towing the van round Europe.

Hi regarding the advice u gave saying on the 9th
u told DC2525 to increase his Rear tyre pressures to the maximum.
My Question is what about the Front are they left at normal or ?

What my car says is the front should be increased from 35 to 38 with the van and backs from 35 to 44 with the van.
