Hi I currently own a 2 lt qashqai with a kerbweight of 1665 and a tow weight which I think I recommended of 1400,I'm looking to buy a bailey pageant Provence with has a mass running weight of 1206 and a maximum allowable weight of 1420 ,I'm really confused ,am I able to tow this ??
Thanks
It says 1400 so does that mean it. Can as running weight is 1206 or do I go by the maximum allowable weight ?? Or is that all they recommend to load the van up at its max ?
Your car's towing limit can be calculated by subtracting the gross vehicle weight from the gross train weight. These are the first two weights on your car's VIN plate, which can be found on a door pillar or under the bonnet.
If the towing limit is 1400kg you would be able to tow this caravan up to its maximum weight of 1420kg because the nose weight on your tow bar would take the axle weight on the caravan below your 1400kg limit. However your margins are slender and it would be wise to check your caravan weight on a weighbridge to ascertain the actual weight of the caravan.
