Hi all. I am going to tow for the first time next week. My struggle is what sort of lock to buy. I want one that will lock the trailer to the car whilst I go to a service station but also one that prevents someone hitching on outside my tent. I can't seem to find any clear info on the types of lock. Also as I underestimated the cost of a tow bar originally, I'm not after an expensive one, just more of a deterrent as there won't be anything really valuable in the trailer. Cheers

If it's for a trailer then the cheapest box type with padlock will do the job. Most can be used to lock trailer to car while parked as well as trailer on its own.

Google "Hitch Locks" on e-bay. Box type as Opensauce suggests are from under £12-00. Hope this helps but do not forget that even the most expensive hitch lock will only delay a determined thief.

Cheers, found one that I can pick up from screw fix. Yeah it's more to stop an opportunist whilst at center parcs next week really. Thanks for replies

Ok so I purchase a streetwize SWTT102. Would someone mind googling it and confirming that this is not going to lock my trailer and car together as it's close ended? Also doesn't seem to fit to put the locking bar through iverbthe hitch anyway. So......completely useless for me?

Correct, that will not fit over both the hook and the coupling. Sorry but you wasted your money.

They are letting me swap it for this tomorrow so hopefully this will let me lock it to tow bar and stop anyone hitching outside center parcs. Cheers

Comment to that is replace the padlock with something stronger. The locks shown are so easy to get off!

Cool, will do. I don't think it will matter at center parcs (famous last words) but when camping in August I will. Cheers
