Hi I am seriously looking at a new Xtrail 1.6DCi but am a little concerned about the small engine. I know Nissan have just released a 2litre in the Xtrail so I might wait for them to get on the used market.
The 1.6 looks better and is cheaper to run than my 52 plate 2.2Di Xtrail it has 112hp compared to 130hp of the 1.6, torque is more too.
We have a MAM 1500kg single axle caravan.
I am wanting to hear from someone that actually tows with a 1.6 Xtrail as to their point of view.

Think you may be pushing it a bit towing a 1500kg caravan with the 1.6 as the spec is a max of 1500kg.

I'm sure it will pull it but the clutch may suffer. Especially if you have a few heavy things in the van.

I weigh the caravan every trip so I know it's either 1500kg or less. We don't do long tows generally 100miles and occasionally 250miles each way

The 3rd generation Xtrail has a 2000kg towing limit on either 1.6 or 2.0 manual the auto is 1500&1650 dependent on 1.6 or 2.0 litre.
I'm looking at the manual
