I have just bought a 2013 Lunar Clubman SI which uses 13 pin electrics. I have dual 7 pin electrics fitted to my 2011 Peugeot 508 SW. I know that I need power to pin 9 for the ATC and pin 10 for the fridge. I have been told that I need dedicated wiring and have been quoted between £470 - £535!! One fitting company even told me my car was not capable of powering the ATC. I have spoken to my local Peugeot dealer who can guarantee power to pins 9 and 10, but will not guarantee that the ATC will work. I have also spoken to a local fitted who initially offered to change the wiring for £75, but has now decided that this simple swap would not power the ATC. I'm going round in circles with seemingly on-one able to give me a definitive answer. Can anyone offer any advice. Thanks.
I have a Peugeot Partner Tepee 62 plate and had a towbar and 13 pin electrics fitted by the Peugeot dealer for around £450 I think back in 2015.
It works the ATC just fine.
As far as I know, ATC needs a permanent 20Amp supply.
When they say they cannot guarantee that the ATC will work, do they mean because they are not supplying and fitting the ATC. In other words it won't be their problem.
You have been given some duff advice. There is nothing special about the feed to pins 9 and 10 and a competent about electrician should be able to fit the required circuits.A switch to a 13pin plug with the correct control unit should be no more than £150. If you have twin 12n/s plugs already at the towbar then as you can see from the link https://www.maypole.ltd.uk/Maypole-Towing-Electrics/Wiring-Codes that you only need to modify 9 and 10. This can be done with an additional fuse/feed and a preparatory control unit and beefing up to earth path if required.
The £75 for a plug swap is nut unreasonable but if they dont know how to add a split charge cct then I would look elsewhere, they really are not competent.
