Hi, we’re looking to purchase our 1st caravan and looking at a 2004 Bailey Arizona. We have a 2.2 diesel Toyota avens is, and have seen conflicting advice online whether this caravan is too heavy for the car, we thought it would be fine! Any advice gratefully received on this and views on the caravan choice! Thanks
------------- Good cheese, great wine, sleepy kids and a dry tent..
What is the max weight of the caravan? What is the kerbweight of the car? What is the max tow weight of the car? If you can give us this information we'll be able to give some meaningful advice.
I think MTPLM is 1472kg so need car max tow to be more than this and ideally car kerb weight to be 1472/0.85 = 1732kg or more.
The Arizona was in the Bailey Senator range which was their top of the range at the time and that meant heaviest although the most luxurious and best equipped.
Pageant was mid range and Ranger was lowest but lightest.
Think the Arizona was same weight as my Indiana, that was 1500kg loaded.
The guy i bought it of towed with a XC V70.
Might put you in the direction of the sort of car you may need.
But the Arizona is lighter than the Indiana lol.
Check out the below, says you be 83% if i put correct info in.
Good Luck
