We have only towed once with the 7 to 13 adapter and found that the cable is fairly long and is prone to virtually drag along the road.
To over come this issue I was thinking of maybe keeping the cable from dropping by using bungee cords and stringing these around the A frame or has nayone got a better idea to stop the cable from dropping.
If you place the adapter cable directly over the top of hitch it saves it dragging on the floor thus not needing a bungee cord to suspend the adapter cable. However, if the 13 pin socket is on the car and the twin 7 pin plugs on the caravan then the adapter shown in the link below is a much better alternative as there are no trailing cables to worry about. I changed to the one shown in the link and kept the long cable adapter as a back up if ever needed.
I do the same if a trailer cable is long enough touch the floor when turning. It allows the cable to untwist slightly when turning the other direction and it coils back after.
