I am needing to fit a detachable towbar to my car.
Can anyone recommend any?
The car manufacturer towbar is around £1600 which is a bit steep.
I have priced witter and Westfalia with the latter being around £150 less than the witter. Is there any difference in these brands? Is there any other makes?

Have a look at the towbar company in the link at their detachable towbars. I think they despatch all over the UK but worth a look anyway. Remember that this is for the price of the towbar as the dedicated Audi 13 pin socket will be an extra cost.
Yep for a VSK set up your looking at around £400 for a proper job these days.
You can still get relay bypass kits, which will half the total total cost, but on a fairly new car, could cause warranty issues down the road, pun intended.
Not sure that I would be looking at DiY these days, as the electrics often need to be coded to the vehicle, this work alone can cost £50 unless you have the £2k worth of software to sort it out your self.
Designs vary slightly but unless there is something specific that you need then choosing by price wont be an issue.
Be wary of non UK sellers though. They maybe cheap but if it doesnt fit it will cost you a lot to return it and your probably not going to get your customs fees back.

I've had both makes fitted to an Audi over the years, currently it's a Witter. Very little difference except i do find the Witter has more of a lack to fitting the detachable ball but once mastered it's fine. The Witter was fitted with dedicated wiring and computer reset for £480 last September.
