Good morning all,

We have just returned from our first camping trip of the season with our new tent. I really good do with extra room and thinking about getting a trailer. Do you need any add-on licence categories to pull a small trailer ?

No add on licence required but you need to tell your insurance if you have a towbar fitted. Some insurance companies class a towbar as a modification and others don't but it's worth telling them anyway just to cover yourself in the event of a claim.

Thank you very much for that info. I already have a roofbox but still need more space. I drive a Vauxhall Zafira.

I am looking at getting a small trailer with a boxed lid to free up more place in the car while travelling.

Two things,, buy the biggest trailer you can afford because what ever you buy will very soon not be big enough!

Second when I told my insurance about my towbar the premium when down and few quid.
