Hi all,my 2002 Mondeo 2ltr TDCI Zetec S has finally went to the great scrapheap in the sky,so I have bought a Toyota Avensis 1800 cc petrol semi automatic which I got cheap just to keep me mobile.My question is can it tow my 2006 Ace Celebration 470 MTPL 1298 kg.The Avensis is 2003 yr,I bought pe
trol as I did not want any dual mass flywheel or DPF issues.Any help much appreciated.Thanks for any replies.

I think from memory the auto has a higher towing limit than the manual which was 1400kg, 1300kg for the manual. I had a 1998 2.0 petrol auto so the model previous to yours I towed a Bailey Ranger 510/4l with it and had no problems. Then I had a 2008 1.8ltr manual petrol and towed the same van with the same result so you should be ok but it will be worth a check to be sure.

It's difficult to give accurate information without full model details but according to Parker's your caravan is probably heavier than your car so would not be a safe or suitable match.
