Hi I have a 2.0l 185hp Kia Sportage on lease and I’ve got to send it back. This car has towed wonderfully well. However if I look at a new car Kia Sportage don’t do the 2l version anymore but replaced it with the 1.6 diesel 134 hp either manual or auto. Does anyone have experience of this version and will it pull my 1,500kg caravan as well as the 2l. Will I notice much change in performance

Have you checked the weight of the new Sportage? When I checked a few years ago I found some of them had a max tow of 1400kg but I don't know which model you are considering and the weight limits and kerb weights of the current models.

It depends on the model and year. Almost all of the 1.6 diesel autos have a max towing capacity of 1400kg apart from the AWD version which has a max towing weight of 1600kg. The manual AWD version has a max towing capacity of 1900kg.

Maybe move up to a Sorento? Ours tows our 1500kg van very easily and we normally get 28-30 mpg towing, 45-50+ on a run.

Good choice. I had one to tow my 1500kg Bailey and you could forget it was there when towing. Totally safe at speed and when overtaking lorries etc.
I've replaced it with a Skoda Karoq and am pretty sure I will have to replace the caravan with a lighter two berth.
