If it helps, the Towcar outfit matching calculator shows it to be a very good match.

We've got an X4, so not at all the same car, but having moved from a Landrover we've been really impressed with the towing capabilities of the BMW. Lovely to tow with.

We towed 1300 Kgs van with an X1, in both 4x4 and sdrive 2.0 ltr and no issues. currently on a x1 sdrive 2.0ltr petrol xline, auto.
