Not really. It’s basically the Daily Mail scare mongering with anti EV propaganda. The article should read “if you car is not type-approved for towing, don’t tow with it “. The end…
What a load of scaremongering nonsense!
From the article.
"Electric car owners must ensure their vehicle is homologated for towing before using a caravan or trailer.
The RAC added that motorists should never “ignore the rules” and make sure that their cars have been properly approved."
Manufacturers have engineered their vehicles to certain specifications and capabilities.
If the vehicle isn't type approved by the manufacturer, you won't be able to buy/fit a towbar anyway! (There may be a few idiots that might try though )

No more not paying road tax, albeit a wee while away. BBC

Only right all vehicles pay VED. However the proposal (which can't be binding on a future government) is based on 50% of new car sales being electric by 2025, it was 15% to end of October 2022.
50% can only be reached with a huge drop in prices, or further disincentive to buy none EV cars.
I was in a dealer last week and whilst not the same car, a new petrol vehicle was priced at £35,000, a similarly sized EV equivalent was £53,000.
Maybe the potential increase in fuel duty by 12p a litre from March is part of the nudge towards EVs.
Compulsory ins for cyclists would only line the pockets of wealthy ins companies and their share holders and unless bikes had to be registered and have no plates, almost impossible to enforce and would cost much more to set up than the revenue it would generate.

I only put this on for people to read and thought it would be interesting for some. Obviously you have not read it properly as you say it is the daily mails are scare mongering. Yet it plainly says that it is from the Express.
They may be after 50% of new sales to be EVs by 2025, but what percentage of car sales are of new cars? In my view, by far the majority of people buy used, and quite a few (like me) buy older used vehicles. Punitive measures won't make people buy what they can't afford, so what is the answer? Before people like me can afford to buy EVs, prices will have to fall by about 90% and I really can't see that happening.

Yep - my mistake. Express scaremongering. I did read the entire article, looking for some germ of information. What I found was what I responded. It’s definitely true that you shouldn’t tow with a non approved car.

£35k for a car, no wonder a good percentage are opting for private lease.
As for VED, they should insist on tax and insurance for cyclists.
Definitely agree with you about cyclists, they should also have to carry number plates.
£35k for a car indeed! Apart from a new (ex-demonstrator) Smart car I bought in 2000 for £6k, the most expensive car I have ever owned is the one I have now which I bought nearly 4 years ago for £4k. I intend keeping it for as long as possible as I doubt I'll ever afford another. Once this one's had it I will be on public transport. EVs will never be any more than a pipe-dream for me, apart from possibly a mobility scooter, but even they now cost as much as I paid for my X Trail. I wonder what a mobility scooter can tow?
