hi all, any one tow with a 2014/15 honda civic 1.6 diesel 120 bhp, im about to buy said honda, my caravn is only 960kg fully laden, on paper a good match, if you tow with one , whats your throughts, regards baz
If you had put the vehicle in the title description ie. 'Honda Civic 1.6 Diesel' you may get more response to your question rather than just titling it 'towing'.
It's probably a vehicle that is not used much for towing caravans but hopefully admin will amend the title to gain some interest so members can offer further advice.
If you use the search function you'll find several previous threads on towing with a Civic, I haven't read through those posts but I expect some of them may be useful.
As well is two words!

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
I towed a slightly heavier caravan for three years with a Civic 2.2 CTDi and it was excellent. The car was very stable and I never had any problems towing. The 1.6 engine should be quite sufficient to tow a caravan of this size, even though the torque is lower than the 2.2 engine.
My wife has a Mk9 Civic 1.8 petrol. It is now eight years old and we have not had a single problem with it.
I'm not familiar with that car but would have thought that a diesel engine producing 120bhp would be more than capable of towing a caravan weighing 960kg.
Check the car's VIN plate, which is normally inside one of the pillars behind the driver or front passenger doors but might be in the engine bay. Work out the towing capacity by subtracting the first of the 4 figures given from the second. (The third and fourth figures are axle weight limits and can be ignored here.) I'd be very surprised if that wasn't well in excess of 960kg but that's the only way to be sure.
