Hi all I'm a complete caravan newby and would really appreciate some advice. I currently have a vivaro towing my bailey pageant baurdoux 2000 but I'm unfortunately getting rid of it due to costs so I was thinking of getting a Dacia duster 4x4 diesel, is this a good towing vehicle and would it tow the caravan? Also does this caravan have brakes? TIA

Welcome to the forum.
First thing you'll need to check is the towing capacity of the Duster.
There will be a plate on the door pillar with the weights on it. You need to subtract the kerbweight from the gross train weight to work out the capacity.
If you don't understand (no offence) what I mean, post up the figures on here and someone can work it out for you.
There should also be a weight plate on the caravan, if you can post the figures on here too.

looks like yours going to be very very close to the max for towing your caravan (97%) but to be certain you need to get those weights on your vin plate of the car and the caravan too posted on here and we can double check the figures for you, the weights are so important seeing as your new to towing

and as for the last question, i bloody hope so! if it hasnt youve got bigger problems to worry about than the weight of the caravan

If any trailer has a handbrake lever fitted then it has brakes. However, any trailer above 750 kgs. must incorporate brakes which is a legal requirement which is an agreed comment in support of navver's comment (above post).

I tow a Bailey Ranger with a Duster (diesel, 4x4) and it pulls okay - fine on the motorway, adequately on twisties but you need to work the gears. I don't think I'd want the extra 200 odd kgs extra that you're considering, though.
