I seem to recall last time we considered camping abroad (France) that ferry costs increased quite significantly if we were to take our trailer. Is this universally true? I suppose we are in effect taking up nearly two car lengths so I can understand the rationale, but I thought I'd raise the subject in case anyone to say 'you should try company X as they don't charge (much) extra' etc.
In case it is relevant, the total trailer length is 2m and the car (Fiesta) is around 4m long.
Will be interested to see what Channel fees are, but CalMac charges separately for “caravan / boat / luggage trailer” up to 2.5m, up to 6.0m & up to 8.0m on our local ro-ro ferry. Ticket pro rata to the vehicle length: MH up to 6m costs the same as the trailer up to 6m, trailer up to 2.5m is half the vehicle cost.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
