From my knowledge a swan neck tow bar is suitable for alko hitches I don't use oney self so please.dont take my word as 100% correct.
I'm sure someone with the correct experience/knowledge will answer for you.
Most obvious query is distance between ball and bumper! The Alko damped couplings are much larger than a standard undamped coupling!
The ball needs a SERIOUS clean, it must be rust free (and ideally rust pitting free too!), paint free, and grease/oil free. The Alko coupling has 'brake' pads within it (similar to ordinary brake pads) that provide the damping and they need good clean steel surface to bear on. If the ball surface is much less than perfect, the coupling can emit some alarming groaning and banging noises that reverberate throughout the tow car chassis/body!
Just be aware that if you buy a new ball that it will probably come with nice shiny paint.
It is essential that you carefully remove all the paint from the ball area using fine emery or sandpaper otherwise you will contaminate the pads within the hitch unit.
The ball must then be kept clean and grease free
