Could anyone offer advice? We are about to order a new caravan and we have only towed a folding camper before so my current car handled that very well. This is an Audi A4 1.9 tdi.
I now need to buy a vehicle to tow the van and this has a maximum laden weight of 1500 kgs.
We have been looking at 4x4's but there are so many we are now completely confused.
This will be my wife's new car so she will use this on a daily basis but not to go far.
Can anyone offer advice/info on the best 4x4's and also MPV's
It is diesel 2.5 and does about 28 mpg solo and about 24 mpg towing. It is 10 years old, I understand that the new models are slightly better consumption.

hi mate this is my first post so please excus any c**k ups wen towing with a 4x4 i would go below a 2.8 diesel engine mate i had a 2.5 pajero and was not impresed it was slow and very heavy on diesel i now have a 4.2 td landcruiser which is still heavy on diesel but its a very good tow car hope this helps sniper
I'm on my third Jeep, two Cherokee's (petrol) and the current one a Grand Cherokee (diesel), its the 2.7 CRD (Mercedes Engine) and does about 30 mpg normal commuting.
Loads of room, comfortable and reliable, and a max tow of around 3500Kg. Its got an auto box, which gives an effortless drive when towing.
I've driven most of the pretenders, but as the Jeep adverts say "theres only one"
Cheers
