Does anyone know the correct height a towbar ball should be?
Mine seams a bit high and is difficult to get hitched sometimes as the Alko hits the spare wheel carrier.

I have the figure of 16 inches in my head. Don't really know where it came from though.
Perhaps best to check with an installer.

if your vehicle is a 4X4 type you may need a dropper plate,

My bracket has 2 sets of holes, its on the higher one at the minute.
I'll try moving the ball down to the lower pair.

Towballs :- After fitting a towbar to your customer's vehicle please explain that the height of the towbar from the centre of the ball to the ground will be between 350mm & 420mm, when the vehicle is fully laden, in accordance with Directive EC94/20. Therefore in order to attain this height, the unladen ball height will be much higher than the fully laden height & will vary depending on vehicle type.------------- its nice to be nice,if you cant be nice, don't be nasty

Hiya' Trooper Man'
John Jory was as near as makes no difference when he stated 16 inches. The correct height according to all the legislation docs is 17 inches from the floor 'before you hook up'.
Hope that helps.
Good Luck
