Just brought a shogun sport warrior 2.5TD and wondered what the diesel consumption is like when towing (not had chance to take the caravan out yet) I cant find anything in the handbook so thought I would ask the experts.

See you all at the national meet.

Many thanks

Hi we have the same vehicle but petrol with our twin wheeler on back, Hubby reckons about 20 MPG but as I say it is petrol, she tows well though.

Don't know about the 2.5 but have just got rid of a hired 3.2lt  which needed permission from my mortgage broker to fill up and drank diesel as though going out of fashion!!

I did find though that it made little difference towing and as long as I drove with a soft... no very soft right foot I was getting about 220 miles solo on £40 worth

Overall impression...I was beginning to agree with Red Ken!!!!

The newer engines may be better but my 10 year old 2.5d is a diesel addict and can't get enough of it. Only about 25/26 mpg solo and 22/23 towing. It does tow very well though.

I'm afraid you've gone for probably the poorest performer as far as diesel 4x4 fuel consumption is concerned.  I was once told that the diesel isn't much better than the petrol for consumption!!

We've got the Shogun Sport 2.5 turbodiesel and reckon we get about 32/34 out of it, we are really pleased it is a couple of years old, before that we had Audi A4 that drank juice.  While we were waiting for the Shogun they dealer lent us a Suzuki Grand Vitara that should have its own pump, we seemed to constantly top it up, but that was petrol.  We tow a tandem axle and it is like a dream for towing, we had looked at lots of different types but are pleased now.
