Hi peeps

We are heading away this weekend in our new caravan.

I discovered last night that the stabiliser that came with our

caravan is the type suitable for swan neck tow bars, I have a

bolt on type.

So.......I doubt i would ave time to get one fitted at our local dealers at this stage so

could i get away without one?

If it is a short trip and the van is loaded correctly it shouldn't be a problem but if it's a longer trip using motorways I wouldn risk it.Some members just wouldn't tow without a stabiliser.

Why not just get the bolt on plate for the Car and bolt it on yourself it only takes 20 minutes to do.

if you do decide to get the backplate for the tow ball dont forget to purchase two extended bolts  as well.

I have towed with and without a stabiliser and it is far easier on the car and mind when its their.

You don't need one - it isn't a legal requirement and if the van is correctly matched to the towing vehicle, loaded carefully and driven well then it shouldn't be necessary.

A stabiliser will not compensate for a badly loaded, matched or driven outfit.

As Kanno says "Some members just wouldn't tow without a stabiliser." but there are also some like myself who have never towed with one.
