------------- WHY DOES SHE TELL ME EVERYTHING IS MY FAULT?
Best thing to do is get the car to match the van if you already have the van. Some good towcars have been named so far. The one I liked was the Skoda 2.5 tdi. I have exactly the same engine in my Audi A6. I did a long hill nearly 1 in 5 last weekend towing close to 1400kg. We flew up the hill . If you have a smaller van then you can go with a smaller towcar. Had quite a few good reports on the Mondeo 2.0 tdci

It is now according to the caravan club but it was the Subaru Forester.
I tow with a Nissan X- Trail 2.2 dCi and it woud wipe the floor with them both... never out of 6th gear when towing Ace Jubilee Equerry on dual carraigeway and motorway.
And returns 30+ MPG towing.
This months Caravan and camping magazine says vectras are a good buy for around £8000 and the list of toys you can get inside are good too, worth a look.

We tow with a 02 Mondeo TDi 2 litre.no problems with 1150 kg , will hold 60 mph easily all day long and return over 30mpg at the same time. Handling is superb as is solo performance.Pick a good one up for around 4k.
