We have towed with our Sedona, an Elddis Firsestorm, plus full awning, 2 adults 3 kids and a dog.
They're brilliant, didn't feel any strain at all and the mpg was very good, mid 30's with the air con on. Very stable, and felt like it would pull forever, picked up well going uphill too.
Our car is for sale, see link for details, )if I've posted it right!) still has transferrable Kia warranty, contact me for any details of interested.
We bought it following recommendations on this site, and it really is good. It had to be capable of towing a 5 berth van but be versatile enough for me to drive to work every day, and it does all that.
However we have to let it go as we are getting a company car, and don't need to keep 2 cars.
Hope you don't think I'm being cheeky, but you never know.................
27mpg , I can confirm that to be true. If you want good mpg, a people carrier, a good tow car , then buy a Seat Alhambra tdi, VW Sharan or Ford Galaxy , all identical mechanically. They drive a heck of a lot better too.I wouldn't go back to a Kia again. The Kia Drives like a van in comparison. They are value for money but are nowhere near the class average in finess and driver appeal. You get what you pay for at the end of the day.
I think lots of people get different mpg for various reasons , I can make a hell of a difference with my Sorento just by the way I drive it. If I drive like a boy racer I get about 28 mpg but if I am easy on the right foot I can get about 33 mpg ,it also makes a difference if you live in a hilly area
I think it depends on the car, I drove 400 miles fully loaded with kids and luggage at new year and still had a quarter of a tank left when I got there. When the tank showed empty after another 100 miles driving about I could only get 60 litres in it, thats damn good if you ask me....
We're on our second, and I can't fault them at all. They have more room than the Previa we owned, they tow better than anything I've towed with in 20 years of caravanning at a level of comfort that's fantastic for the price you pay. The car is an absolute workhorse, mechanically and structurally sound.
I sold my Zafira last Feb for a Kia Sedona and at first the size took a bit of getting used to as I loved the zafira, but as a female tower with a 5 berth, single axle I feel much safer with the Kia, I have a lot of oomph to get me up those long motorway inclines and feel more confident overall.
The built in dvd is also fantastic for keeping the kids amused as the headphones keep them quiet and I dont have the background noise from the portable, on the knee one they used before.
Have towed to paris from glasgow non stop in a long day and the Kia was great, not one hairy moment or frayed temper.
The mpg is a bit scary but I dont really know what I am getting as I am more interested in keeping the kids amused and arriving in one piece than the cost, its a female thing.
Have fun with the new motor whatever it ends up being.
