We are looking for a lightweight van as our car's MTPLM is only 1088kg (85% as per caravan club).
We have been looking at private sales as well as dealers but a lot of adverts do not quote the MTPLM, so to make it easier for us to scour the adverts, I was hoping to get a list of the model/make of caravans that come into our catergory. I am only interested in vans up to 5 years old.
The only ones I know of at present are Avondale Dart 380/2, Compass Corona 362, and the Lunar Ariva. I'm sure there must be more, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks Korky
Hmmm, whilst you might find a caravan light enough I think you may struggle on actual power. Running it through whattowcar.com it looks like it might struggle even with a Bailey 500 on it. Did you mean your car is 1088 or that 1088 is the 85% figure?
hi, we run a range of lightweight tourers from caravelair french manufacturer, continental spec, but 4 berth options with a mptl of just 950kg, with are proving very popular with customers with smaller cars. just a thought!
There ya go, that sounds like your solution! Of course, a lot of older vans are lighter. Our Elddis is 850 unladen with a 250 kg payload and is a 1997 model. The more it sings and dances the heavier it is.
